How we make money

Right now, nothing on clive.help earns us a penny. If a partner ever pays a fee, it'll say so next to the link, and it won't change what I recommend or the order anything appears in.

Where the money will come from

There are no paid links on clive.help yet. When there are, they'll be referral fees: a lease company, a finance provider or an energy supplier paying because you picked their deal through our link.

That fee will be shown next to the link, in pounds, every time: We earn £40, say. When the best option for you earns us nothing, the tag will say We earn nothing, and it'll still be shown first.

What it never changes

  • Deals are ranked by total cost to you over the whole agreement. Never by fee, and never by how much you pay a month on its own.
  • The readiness check earns us nothing whatever it says. If an EV doesn't suit you yet, I'll say so.
  • If a cheaper-looking deal ranks lower, I explain why, right there in the list.

What we don't do

  • No adverts.
  • No sponsored placements or paid reviews. Nobody can buy a spot on a list.
  • No selling your details. What we keep and why is in the privacy page, in plain words.

Why it works this way

A car site that earns more when you buy a car will nudge you towards buying a car. The only way round that is to earn the same from a “not yet” as from a “yes”, which is nothing, and to show the fee whenever there is one. Trust is the whole product. It would be a daft thing to sell.
