Cookies, briefly
The site stores a few small things in your browser so it works, and analytics cookies only if you say yes. Nothing here is used for adverts, and nothing is sold.
Your choice
You haven't chosen yet, so analytics are off.
Always there, so the site works
- Your cookie answer, so the banner doesn't ask again. Stays until you clear your browser.
- Your light or night mode choice, if you've picked one rather than following your device.
- Your answers in the tools, in this tab only, so a refresh doesn't lose your place. Gone when the tab closes.
- Where you came from on the first page of this visit, in this tab only, so that if you sign up I know which link brought you. Gone when the tab closes.
None of these are cookies in the strict sense: they're in your browser's own storage and never sent to a server on their own.
Only if you accept
PostHog sets cookies to tell one visit from the next, so I can see which pages help people and what breaks. If you reject, PostHog stores one flag that says “no”, and nothing else. What analytics record is on the privacy page.
Accepting also keeps two things of mine, which rejecting deletes:
- A random id for your browser, sent with your runs through the tools so I can see when someone comes back. Stays until you clear your browser.
- The number of the run you're on in each tool, in this tab only, so a refresh carries on the same run. Gone when the tab closes.
